Ambassador dr. Genorio key note speaker at the panel celebrating 15 years of enlargement at VUB

On October 16 2019 the 1st European Day was held on the campus of VUB celebrating 15 years of enlargement. Ambassador dr. Rado Genorio was a key note speaker at the panel "15 Years of Enlargement - Growing Together, Moving Apart?".

In the morning at the Slovenian booth the Embassy of Slovenia presented Slovenia as a tourist destination and studying opportunities at Slovenian universities. Ivana Petrič Lasnik, teacher of Slovenian language also provided information on Slovenian language and language courses for students at University of Brussels and Ghent.

The main academic event took place between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. with the panel discussion “15 years of enlargement - growing together, moving apart? ” Ambassador dr. Rado Genorio was a key note speaker at the panel.

In front of the auditorium of more than 50 students, VUB professors and others attendees he presented the Slovenian path to EU integration. Ambassador included his own experience in this field as he was a main coordinator during the accession process and offered some thoughts on the future of integration. He also mentioned intensive bilateral relations with Belgium and Luxembourg namely close cooperation with like-minded counties of the Benelux Union. Afterwards, Ambassador participated in the panel discussion which continued also with a small reception.

Invitation to the Ambassador dr. Rado Genorio to be the keynote speaker at the panel discussion is a special recognition to Slovenia and reflects also strong partnership between VUB and the University of Ljubljana, since they are closely involved in the project of the European University network EUTOPIA (in addition to VUB and UL the project EUTOPIA also include the University of Warwick from the United Kingdom, the University Paris-Seine, the University of Pompeu Fabra from Barcelona and the University of Gothenburg).
