Slovene language

You can study Slovene language in Belgium at two universities:

  1. Free university of Brussels (Université Libre de Bruxelles) 
  2. University of Ghent (Universiteit Gent). Slovene language teacher at the two universities works within the programme Slovene at foreign Universities (http://centerslo.si/en/at-foreign-universities/).

Language courses are open to general public as well. The courses are intended for adults.

Free University of Brussels (Université Libre de Bruxelles, ULB)

Beginners’ and intermediate course will take place in both semesters, once a week. Classes for the first semester will be organized from 14th September to 19th December 2020 and for second semester from 1st February to 7th May 2021. Due to the coronavirus, the classes will be organized on-line and live on the campus. To participate in the course you have to apply also with the ULB. More information about the official procedure: https://www.ulb.be/fr/cours-isoles-et-auditeur-libre/cours-isoles. You have time to officially apply until the end of October 2020.

The introductory meeting and a first class on-line will be organised. In this class, you will discuss the organization of the course (on-line/live) and decide on the timetable. Of course, you will start learning too!

Introductory meeting with the first class for beginners group will be on Monday, 14th September 2020 at 18.00  (location: on-line)
Introductory meeting with the first class for intermediate group will be on Tuesday, 15th September 2020 at 18.00 (location: on-line)

University of Ghent (Universiteit Gent)

Beginners, intermediate and advanced courses are organized a few times a week, for intermediate and advanced group in both semesters, for beginners group only in semester 2. 

Classes for the first semester are organized from 21st September to 19th December 2020 and for the second semester from 8th February to 21st May 2021. Due to coronavirus, classes will be organized live on campus and on-line. To participate in the course you have to apply also with the University of Ghent. You have time to apply until 18th September 2020. 

Beginners course (in the second semester) will take place on campus Boekentoren, Blandijnberg 2, Ghent on Wednesdays 16.00-19.00 (room 160.015) and Fridays 8.30-11.30 (room 110.028) and 13.00 -14.30 (probably on-line). First class will be on Wednesday, 10th February 2021.

Intermediate course will take place on campus Boekentoren, Blandijnberg 2, Ghent on Wednesdays 8.30-10.00 (room 110.028) and Fridays 8.30-11.30 (room 110.031). One class a week will probably be organized on-line. First class is on Wednesday, 23th September 2020, on campus.

Advanced course will take place on campus Boekentoren, Blandijnberg 2, Ghent on Thursdays 10.00-13.00 (room 110.028). First class is on Thursday, 24th September 2020, on campus.

Anyone interested in participating in courses at Ghent University is kindly invited to join the classes in the first week of the semester.

The Centre for Slovene as a second and foreign language of the Faculty of Arts (University of Ljubljana) offers various language courses, that differ in length, intensity and content (all year long, winter or summer school of Slovene language, youth summer school, individual courses etc.).
